Our Leadership Model

Ephesians 4 speaks of a pastor's job as that of trainer and equipper. At Oasis, we believe it is the pastor's job to equip the people of the church for the work of ministry. We are a cell-model church, which means the pastors lead a small group of people who lead small groups of people.

Our Leaders

Founding Pastor

oasis church head pastor

David Gainey

Pastor David grew up in south Alabama and met his wife Hope during college. They’ve been married since 1993. They moved to Tucson in 1997 to start Oasis. They’ve raised four children: Grace, Joy, Faith, and Graham and “adopted” Nicole as an adult.

Pastor David earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Divinity from Samford University/Beeson Divinity School. He earned a Doctor of Ministry from Gateway Seminary in 2020. Since 2000, David has taught religion and philosophy at Pima Community College, the University of Phoenix, and Park University.

Pastor David enjoys saltwater fishing, duck hunting, hiking, and watching sports (Arizona basketball and Auburn football). He loves the outdoors, especially the beach and mountains. David’s favorite television includes Seinfeld, the Office, Psych, and Arrested Development.

Cynthia Brooks

Cynthia Brooks is from the small town of Safford, AZ but moved to Tucson in 2019 with her family.  She and her husband, Adam, have two active teenagers that keep them busy with softball and baseball. Cynthia graduated with her Masters in Business Administration in 2019 from Grand Canyon University.  Cynthia has always had a passion for fitness and wellness and loves helping others with their fitness journey.  She coaches a few CrossFit classes a week and teaches strength and conditioning to youth. When the Brooks clan has free time, they enjoy heading to Alpine for some quiet time or snowboarding.

Tech Director

Clayton Summers

Clayton is a Tucson native who enjoys taking long rides on mountain bike trails and scenic drives up Mt. Lemmon. When he’s not doing that, he finds himself practicing guitar and tinkering with computers. Clayton graduated from the University of Arizona in 2019 and currently works as a Criminalist in the Tucson Police Department Crime Laboratory and oversees Live-Streaming and In-Person Technology solutions for Sunday morning services as Oasis’ Tech Director.

Maddie is an Atlanta, Georgia native, but now considers Tucson home. She graduated from Georgia College and State University (GCSU) in 2018 with a degree in Marketing. Maddie is always on the go, whether it's traveling to a new place, trying a new restaurant, hanging out with her little sister, or finding a new trail to run. She's always loved sports and being outdoors. She works at a local marketing company here in Tucson and loves what she does. Be sure to reach out and say 'hi' on our social media pages, since Maddie is the one behind the scenes!

Children's Director

Karen Hall is a mother of two little ones and wife to Jonathan. She calls Arizona home and loves to travel and vacation as much as possible. She spent many years working with youth as a daycare provider, preschool teacher, middle school youth leader, stay-at-home mom and now as the Children’s Director at Oasis. She’s passionate about serving others through ministry projects and helping create an environment where children can learn to love Jesus! If you see her around, don’t be shy, say ‘hi!’ She’s a people person and would love to get to know you!
